Moving forward daily

What can I say but I managed to have an awesome week. Got out every day except Friday (rest day) and the body is feeling not to bad. Saturday I had planned on covering 17km but managed to cover just over 21km. Very happy indeed, although I have found that I am tiring from running much quicker than I had hoped. Last fall and even at Disney in January I was able to run, continuously for up to 20 minutes before I need a rest. Now, I can barely run 5 minutes without taking a walk break. Not pleased about that, but with the heat and humidity last week, that could easily have been the problem. Looking forward, I need to stay focused on my pace and hill training There are some serious inclines in this race and I need to be ready if I am going to finish this run without breaking something.

Here's looking at you sunshine.

On the Road Again

It seems as I may finally have recovered from the Toronto Women's Half Marathon and all post-race events (thank goodness) and am back in full training mode. I bet you thought I was gone for good (but then again no one is reading this are they?) Any way here we are on day two of Week Five and all in well. Stayed close to home last week and did my training on the treadmill while watching TV at home. I find the treadmill forces you to maintain a constant pace which can be difficult when you are not 100%, but I found that things are improving. Yesterday did 6km on the trails in Aurora (in all the mud with all the bugs). Tonight I am meeting the girls for a run through the northern trails of Aurora. I'll let you know how that turns out.

Week Three - A better begining

I even have a photo posted now. Cool.

Yes indeed we are off to an improved started to this week. I have just finished a nice steady 70 minute run and feel good. Didn't feel good at all last week, but today I do finally feel better.

Plan for this week. Run Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, weight training Tuesday and Thursday and hopefully pool on Friday and Sunday as recovery. This is doable.

I find it surprizing that I no longer get all red in the face. I get all sweaty, but don't go all red anymore. See things are improving.

Efforts will be made to post mid week. Maybe more picture too.

Maui Madness - Week 2

So last weeks post didn't work. I think I tried to save it to edit and lost it ..... such is life.

TO begin again. This blog is to follow my progress of my training for my next (number 6) marathon in Maui this September. My training has been somewhat off of late due to a varity of factors which I may or may not go into at a later time BUT last week was week one of my 16 week training schedule. As my lower back has been providing grief I have been spending more time in the pool (water running) and it has seemed to have helped. Great - Awesome. Sunday I needed to run 20+km which I did at the Toronto Ladies Half Marathon (great run). Unfortunately I had a little problem with my blood pressure on a ride home (it was very very very low) in the bus with the girls and well fortunately I had six nurses on our rented school bus and they took great care of me until the EMS, Police and Fire Department arrived and the ER doctor (after all the tests, blood work and x-rays) thinks I was dehydrated and I need more water leading up to my long runs. I know this. This will be my goal for ALL weeks from here on in.

So, there is to be no pool today, or running tomorrow. I am invoking the three day rule to recover from my post run recovery.
